All Student Show 2009
UNCW Presents hosts its eighth annual All Student Show, a juried exhibition featuring work of UNCW students in the Ann Flack Boseman Gallery. This year's Best of Show goes to Film Studies student, Duncan Hill, for his digital photography piece, Metro.
The juror for the exhibition is Michael Polomik. He was raised in San Jose, CA but spent most of his adult life in Wilmington, NC. He received a B.A. in Art Studio in 2005 from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and is currently pursuing his MFA from Western Carolina University where he also teaches art part-time. Polomik has exhibited his work in museums, galleries, and festivals where he has been the recipient of numerous awards. His work is included in both public and private collections nationwide, including the University of North Carolina Wilmington, and has been discussed in a variety of publications. Polomik was the Best of Show honoree for the All Student Show in 2003.

Best of Show
Duncan Hill, Metro - Metro embodies strong presentation and composition. The piece's dramatic contrasts, along with various directions of line, aid in guiding the eye throughout the entire piece. Its soothing color scheme paired with sharp edges, create a unique and interesting balance.

Jillian Boivan, Breakfast -This piece displays lovely intricacies. It is powerful from a distance and exciting up close. It also exhibits a great experiment in the medium's application and unity through rhythmic design.
Mark Krucke, The Cheese Stands Alone - Mark Krucke's painting exhibits a well-established focal point and interesting use of abstraction to render his subject.
Honorable Mentions
Kamran Goudarzi, Polarity -Polarity incorporates a great use of glazing and placement of form and content.
Timothy Kuratek, Not Amused -The piece conveys a skillful depiction of asymmetrical balance through scale and complimentary colors.
Duncan Hill, Key to Cubism -Mixed Media 2 This piece exhibits interesting contrasts in subtle textures and evokes a nice sense of push and pull of space.
Randy Sellers, Study of a Prom Dress -Sellers', Study of a Prom Dress, shows skillful draftsmanship and good attention to detail.
Sarah Shields, To Sew -To Sew, creates a fascinating illusion of time through combinations of layering, color scheme, and subject choices.
