Engage International Series Czech Republic, 2006, 118 min, 35mm, Dir: Jan Svankmajer
A man returning from his mother’s funeral explores the fine line between sanity and madness when a Marquis invites him to spend the night at his mysterious castle. Inspired by the works Edgar Allan Poe and the Marquis de Sade, surrealist master Jan Svankmajer combines provocative imagery with dark humor in what he describes as a “philosophical horror film.” In Czech with English subtitles.
