PROGRAM

Featuring Joan Landry, Assistant Conductor

Weber's Overture to Der Freischütz; Wagner's Forest Murmurs from Siegfried; Smetana's The Moldau; Brahms' Symphony No. 2

ABOUT THE FEATURED ARTIST

Joan Landry comes to the North Carolina Symphony from Honolulu, Hawaii, where she held the post of Associate Conductor of the Honolulu Symphony for the past three seasons. A strong advocate for education, Ms. Landry designed and conducted education concerts for over 100,000 students on Oahu. She also initiated a relationship between the Honolulu Symphony and Carnegie Hall's LinkUP! program, bringing free educational materials and concert experiences to over 5,000 students. Ms. Landry made her subscription debut in Honolulu in 2004 with Holst's The Planets. The Honolulu Advertiser responded, "Landry conducted the seven movements with obvious relish, she understands them and conducted them beautifully…."
