Acclaimed Journalist Mike Sager to Read at UNCW on Oct. 2
WILMINGTON, N.C. - A reception sponsored by the UNCW Department of Creative Writing and book signing sponsored by Pomegranate Books will follow. The event is free and open to the public.
Sager is a writer-at-large for Esquire magazine and the author of several collections of essays, including Scary Monsters and Super Freaks: Stories of Sex, Drugs, Rock 'n Roll and Murder (Thunder's Mouth Press, 2003.) His second book, Revenge of the Donut Boys: True Stories of Lust, Fame, Survival and Multiple Personality (Thunder's Mouth Press, 2007), was published in August.
Sager's essays have also appeared in many anthologies including Best American Essays and The Best of Rolling Stone: 25 Years of Journalism on the Edge. Sager's work gives readers a glimpse into the private lives of celebrities and pop culture icons. His essay "The Devil and John Holmes" served as inspiration for the film Boogie Nights.
Grove/Atlantic's Black Cat will publish his first novel, Deviant Behavior, in Spring 2008.
