This program is part of Days of Remembrance 2008, a week long series of lectures, films, performances, outreach and exhibits surrounding Yom HaShoah, a time of remembrance for those who died in the Holocaust. In 2008, Yom HaShoah will be commemorated throughout the world on May 2nd.
PROGRAM DETAILS
Opus Two chamber ensemble and other special guests pay tribute to composer and musician Paul Schoenfield. The evening features works by the acclaimed composer that were inspired by and derived from traditional Jewish sources and writings from the Holocaust.
Special guests include Andreas Diaz (cello) and Stephen Cohen (clarinet.
ARTIST PROFILE, Opus Two
The award-winning Opus Two has been internationally recognized for its "divine phrases, impelling rhythm, elastic ensemble and stunning sounds," as well as its commitment to expanding the violin-piano duo repertoire. Seasoned chamber players, violinist William Terwilliger and pianist Andrew Cooperstock specialize in the duo literature and have developed an uncanny sense of musical unity.
