ABSURDISTAN (Not Rated)
A visit to the village elder leaves childhood sweethearts Aya and Temelko (Kristyna Malerova and Max Mauff) with a droll fortune - 4 years until they can first be together as lovers. But as this date draws near, there is trouble in the little village of Absurdistan. As water becomes scarce, the women make a solemn vow to force the men into action - 'no water, no sex!' While the men of the village plot to make the women break their vow, Temelko must bring water back to Absurdistan before he and Aya's special date has passed. This wickedly funny film screened at last year's Cucalorus Film Festival, and has won high honors on the festival circuit. Directed by Veit Helmer 35mm. Runtime 88 min.
