"Alison Brown left a career in investment banking for a life as a banjo musician. Anyone who thinks this was a foolish move hasn't heard her play."- The New Yorker

With degrees from Harvard and UCLA, and a former career as an investment banker, Grammy Award winner Alison Brown hardly fits any preconceived mental picture of a bluegrass banjo player. She first made her mark on the national scene during her years with Alison Krauss and Union Station. She has achieved an international reputation as a banjo musician by pushing the instrument out of its familiar Appalachian settings and into new musical territory, creating a hybrid sound that incorporates bluegrass, jazz, folk and Celtic influences.
