Using the theme of "never judge a book by its cover," explore the music, musicians and artists who create music throughout the world.
McLaughlin-Smith is the interim director of the multicultural center and founder of Pearl Girls Academy, a local nonprofit that supports young women's development. She produces and host of Reggae Redemption, a radio show focusing on reggae and world music and is know to her listeners as the Night Nurse. Prior to joining UNCW, McLaughlin-Smith served as the racial justice director for the YWCA and was named the 2007 Woman of the Year by the New Hanover County Human Relations Committee.
