The surf music feel will be followed by an educational component with Jennifer O'Keefe. ( http://www.nhcgov.com/AgnAndDpt/KAB/Pages/Home.aspx ) Jennifer is the coordinator of Keep America Beautiful for New Hanover County and will be speaking on her recent travels to the North Atlantic gyre and the South Pacific gyre along with plastic pollution in our oceans. The music and educational information will be followed by a movie called, "Lost Jewel of the Atlantic," from the people of "Save the Waves Coalition." On the small Atlantic Isle of Madeira was a wave of legend. Kept secret by a cadre of big wave surfers, one of the world's greatest surf spots lay hidden on an island lost in time. This is the story of paradise lost. This is the story of Jardim do Mar. There will be a raffle as well so come out for an evening that will get you thinking to, "Be Ocean-Minded" with UNCW Surfrider Group.
