Evening of Brass

An evening of brass music performed by the University of North Carolina Wilmington Brass Studios, the UNCW Brass Quintet and an Invitational Brass Ensemble. The brass studios include trumpet, horn, and trombone students performing as soloists, and in small ensembles. The UNCW Faculty Brass Quintet will perform works by Gabrieli, Susato, and Renwick. The Evening of Brass concert will also include a premier performance of an Invitational Brass Ensemble of college, high school, and community brass players from local schools and bands. The ensemble is directed by assistant professor of music education at UNCW, Dan Johnson. The invitational choir will perform works by Howarth, Boysen, and a multi-choir work by Gabrieli, “Antiphony No. 2.” The Invitational Brass Choir is part of the music department’s outreach effort and will involve players from New Hanover, Brunswick, Pender, and Onslow counties.
