Statewide Food Drive at UNCW to Lend a Helping Hand Feb. 8 -12

Area residents are encouraged to open their cabinets and grab a can to help the University of North Carolina Wilmington collect items for a statewide food drive Feb.8 - 12. Visual opportunities for the media, including the organizing/collecting of donations and interviews with volunteers, will be available in the Warwick Center at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, the UNC Staff Assembly Day of Service.  more

N.C Students' Notions of the Ocean Will Be Tested by Competition at UNC Wilmington Feb. 6.

Approximately 80 high school students from across North Carolina will test their scientific knowledge at the regional leg of the National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB) 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6 in Dobo Hall at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.  more

UNCW Students Step Up to Support Haiti Victims, Community Invited Feb. 6

University of North Carolina Wilmington Students will show their support for Haiti one step at a time by collecting shoes from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6 at Kenan Auditorium. A celebration of Haitian culture including music and the flying of the Haitian flag will accompany the event.  more

UNCW and CFCC to Assist High School Students with the Financial Aid Maze, Feb. 13 and 27

In today’s economy, high school students and their families need access to information and assistance to plan funding in advance for their college experience. Because the process of applying for financial aid can be confusing, the University of North Carolina Wilmington and Cape Fear Community College are teaming up to offer workshops Feb. 13 and 27 aimed at helping students move smoothly through the “college maze.”  more

UNC Wilmington Presents Chopin200, a Bicentennial Celebration Featuring Pianist Norman Bemelmans, Feb. 23

The University of North Carolina Wilmington's Office of Cultural Arts continues its Masters Series with Chopin200, a performance commemorating the bicentennial of the birth of Frédéric Chopin, one of the world’s most remarkable and beloved composers. The performance will be held at 8 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 23 at UNCW’s Kenan Auditorium.  more

A Decade of Fighting Violence against Women: UNC Wilmington Presents The Vagina Monologues, Feb. 11-14

The Women’s Studies and Resource Center at the University of North Carolina Wilmington continues its efforts to end violence with its production of The Vagina Monologues on Feb. 11, 12 and 14, 2010 in UNCW’s Lumina Theater. All proceeds will benefit the Rape Crisis Center of Coastal Horizons Center and the Domestic Violence Shelter and Services in Wilmington.   more
