WILMINGTON, NC – Juan Williams, author of the critically acclaimed biography Thurgood Marshall: American Revolutionary, will speak at the 2004 Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration sponsored by the UNCW Office of Campus Diversity.

His talk will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, in Kenan Auditorium. Tickets are required but are free of charge. They can be obtained by calling the Kenan Box Office at 910-962-3500 or 800-732-3643

Williams is senior correspondent for National Public Radio, a political analyst for the Fox News channel and national correspondent for the Washington Post. He hosts “America’s Black Forum,” a nationally syndicated weekly news program and is a regular panelist on “Fox News Sunday.” He has also appeared on “Crossfire,” “Nightline” and “Oprah.” His inspirational and informative speaking style has earned him high praise.

Additional written works include his non-fictional bestseller, Eyes on the Prize: America’s Civil Rights Years, 1954-1965 and the first in-depth social history of the civil rights movement from the perspective of religious faith, This Far by Faith. Each of these was a literary companion to the PBS documentaries of the same names.

Unafraid to question conventional notions, Williams challenges colleges’, corporations’ and other organizations’ most cherished ideas on the role race plays in America.
