UNCW Theatre Presents “A Piece of My Heart” in April

Wilmington, N.C. – Playwright Shirley Lauro’s play “A Piece of My Heart” is brought to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington stage at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 15 through Saturday, April 17 and Wednesday, April 21 through Saturday, April 24 at the SRO Theatre in Kenan Hall. There will also be matinee performances at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 18 and Sunday, April 25.
The play, directed by art and theatre professor Thomas Glynn, is based on the true story of six women who went to Viet Nam during the war. It is a portrayal of each woman before, during and after her tour in the war-torn country. The New York Times wrote, “There have been a number of plays dealing with Viet Nam, but none with the direct, emotional impact of Ms. Lauro’s work.”
Tickets are $2 for UNCW students with valid student ID and $8 for the general public. The play is intended for mature audiences. For ticket information and reservations call 910/962-3500.
