Wilmington, N.C. – Clarence Willie, one of the four original plaintiffs in the landmark Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court case that made segregation unconstitutional, will speak at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 22 in Morton Hall, Bryan Auditorium. Willie’s lecture will be the final Brown v. Board of Education Learning Community event of the semester. The lecture is co-sponsored by the Landfall Foundation and Watson School of Education.

Willie is the superintendent of schools in Clarendon County, S.C. He will speak on “Brown v. Board: Its Origins and Legacy in the Carolinas.” Although the Brown v. Board of Education decision made segregation unconstitutional 50 years ago, it remains a controversial topic in Clarendon County. Willie will discuss this topic and more during his lecture. This lecture is free and open to the public.
