UNCW Faculty Discuss “Modern Genetics”

Wilmington, N.C.—The Science Humanities and Society Program at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington is presenting a faculty panel discussion “Modern Genetics: Many Answers, Many Questions” at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 22 in the Randall Library Auditorium on the UNCW campus. It is free and open to the public.
Participants in the panel will be William McCarthy, history; Greg Chandler, biology; Carrie Clements, psychology; Sue Richardson, English and film studies; and Patricia Turrisi, philosophy and religion. Discussion will center on the effects that developments in modern genetics have had on society, the potential benefits of such achievements as well as their shortcomings.
The event is co-sponsored by the Science Humanities and Society Program, the College of Arts and Sciences and the Center for Teaching Excellence.
