Eighth Annual Business Awards Gala Scheduled for Thursday, May 20

WILMINGTON --The Eighth Annual Business Awards Gala is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 20 at the Hilton Riverside Hotel. The event, which sold out last year, is a celebration of business excellence and achievement in the Southeastern North Carolina business community. The hosts are putting together another splendid evening of good food and fellowship to honor the business community and various civic and corporate leaders. Tickets for the event are $60 per person and can be obtained by contacting Warren Gulko at (910) 962-3901.
Six of the community’s leading business organizations have joined together to host this year’s event: UNCW’s Cameron School of Business; Greater Wilmington Chamber of Commerce; Wilmington Industrial Development/Committee of 100; NC World Trade Association, Cape Fear Chapter; Wilmington Downtown Inc., and the Wilmington Small Business Coalition. This year’s Master of Ceremonies is Phil Kirk, president of North Carolina Citizens for Business and Industry (NCCBI).
The gala was spearheaded in 1987 by the Cameron School and a number of local business leaders as a way to recognize business achievement in our community. Designed to celebrate business enterprise and entrepreneurship -- the economic engine that drives our region’s economy – the gala has grown to become the premier business celebration of the year. Awards to be presented this year include: Corporate Citizen of the Year, Economic Development, International Business, Downtown Business, Emerging Business, and the Established Business Award.
