Wilmington – Building on the past success and popularity of “Doing Business with UNCW” workshops, the University of North Carolina Wilmington will host an expanded workshop Saturday, Oct. 30 in the Warwick Center. Registration and breakfast will be from 7:30 to 8:10 a.m. with speakers, networking and workshops running through noon.
“UNCW Presents: Doing Business with Local Agencies” is being held in cooperation with Cape Fear Community College, N.C. State Ports, New Hanover County, the City of Wilmington, Onslow County, N.C. Department of Administration Purchase and Contract and the Small Business and Technology Development Center. Other local agencies may also be represented.
Mary Forsythe, director of UNCW’s Purchasing Department, said, “Through workshops such as this, UNCW and other local agencies are working to better inform the community and involve businesses that might not be comfortable or familiar with our processes. We are especially hoping to reach minorities and small businesses.”
The workshops will offer an overview of construction programs, as well as state laws, bidding and selection processes. Representatives from construction contractors and subcontractors, suppliers and other vendors who may be able to provide services or products to the above agencies are encouraged to attend.
