Friday Moviemakers Series to present filmmaker

Wilmington, N.C.– The Department of Film Studies at the University of North Carolina Wilmington will present filmmaker and editor Jim Haverkamp at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22 in Morton Hall’s Bryan Auditorium on the campus of UNCW. The event is free and open to the public.
Haverkamp is an award-winning filmmaker and editor whose short films have shown in festivals across the country, including the Ann Arbor Film Festival, Black Maria Film and Video Festival, Chicago Underground Film Festival and San Francisco Independent Film Festival. He was awarded a filmmaking fellowship from the North Carolina Arts Council in 2000 and is a former organizer of the Flicker Film Festival in Chapel Hill. In addition to making his own short films, he served as co-producer and co-editor on the documentary Monster Road (2004), which won the Grand Jury Prize at the Slamdance International Film Festival.
