Wilmington - Jennifer Adams, campus outreach coordinator for Population Connection in Washington, D.C., will kick off the Women’s History Month celebration “Women Change the World” at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 4, in Cameron Hall Auditorium. In the lecture, “Breaking the Chain: How Bush’s Attack on International Family Planning Hurts Us All,” Adams will discuss gender, population control and women’s empowerment from an international perspective.

As part of Population Connection’s Campus Outreach Program, Adams attends conferences and visits campuses to educate students on social, economic and environmental impacts related to population issues. She also recently piloted Your Vote, Your Choice, a non-partisan youth voter mobilization effort.

Adams graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University in May 2000 with a major in biology and minors in environmental studies and French. In June 2000, she participated in the Campus Green Vote Summer Training Academy in Washington, D.C., and started a six-month fellowship at Population Connection in the Population Education Department. Following the fellowship, she worked with the Green Schools program at the Alliance to Save Energy to make school buildings more energy efficient and also taught students how to reduce their energy consumption.
