Virginia professor discusses a changing China at UNCW

Wilmington, N.C. – As part of the Great Decisions Spring Lecture Series, University of North Carolina Wilmington’s Department of Political Science presents Brantly Womack, professor of foreign affairs at the University of Virginia, to discuss the changing role of China in the international community at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15 in Cameron Hall auditorium, Room 105. The lecture is free and open to the public, but seating is limited.
Womack specializes in Chinese studies. He recently served as advisory professor at East China Normal University in Shanghai, China, as well as honorary professor at Jilin University in Changchun, China.
He is the author of Contemporary Chinese Politics in Historical Perspective, as well as a contributing author of Foundations of Mao Zedong’s Political Thought, 1917- 1935. His articles have been published in a number of journals including Journal of Contemporary China, Pacific Affairs, Journal of Strategic Studies and the American Asian Review. Womack was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Munich from 1969 to 1970.
