RE: Tree Relocation Project

Press Opportunity

10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 25

University Union, UNCW Due to upcoming construction at UNCW, the university will relocate trees from building sites to areas not affected by construction.

Members of the media are invited to a press opportunity at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 25, near the University Union, to learn about UNCW’s tree relocation project. A tree spade will dig up one of the first trees to be moved in front of the University Union. This will be a great photo opportunity!

Robert Warren, landscape services superintendent, will discuss upcoming construction plans and the university’s commitment to preserving and replanting trees. He will explain how the tree spade works and answer questions related to the relocation process. Also, a member of UNCW’s ECO Club will explain the organization’s role in this project.

We hope that you will be able to cover this exciting event. You may park in the lot in front of the University Union. The briefing will be held outside the University Union. (The side facing the parking lot.) In the case of inclement weather, please meet in the University Union Living Room. I look forward to seeing you there. If you have any questions, please call me at 910-962-3861.
