A Night of Music and Stories with Gerard and Edgerton

Wilmington, N.C. – Philip Gerard and Clyde Edgerton of the University of North Carolina Wilmington’s Department of Creative Writing will present “All-American Heroes,” an evening of story and song with Dusty, Ace and The Propellers, at 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 16 in UNCW’s Kenan Auditorium. The event is a fundraiser for the department’s scholarship program. This show is free for students, $7 for general public and $5 for seniors.

Gerard will read from his novel-in-progress The Ride, a fictional account of the events in Boston, Lexington and Concord just before and during Paul Revere’s famous ride. He has published fiction and nonfiction in numerous magazines and is the author of three novels, Hatteras Light, Cape Fear Rising, and Desert Kill; and four books of nonfiction, including Brilliant Passage. . . a Schooning Memoir; Creative Nonfiction - Researching and Crafting Stories of Real Life; and Secret Soldiers: How a Troupe of American Artists, Designers and Sonic Wizards Won World War II’s Battles of Deception Against the Germans.

Edgerton will read from a new nonfiction book Solo: My Adventures in the Air, due out in September 2005. He is the author of eight novels, including The Floatplane Notebooks, Redeye and Killer Diller. He is currently at work on a stage adaptation of his most recent novel Lunch at the Piccadilly.
