Wilmington, N.C. - The Wilmington Symphony Orchestra with The Atlantean Trio, featuring UNCW music faculty members Joby Brunjes, Richard Thomas and Barry David Salwen, will perform at 8 pm, Saturday, Sept. 24 in Kenan Auditorium.

This talented group of musicians is featured in Beethoven’s Triple Concerto for Violin, Cello, and Piano, a powerful work in which each soloist displays to full extent the technical virtuosity demanded by Beethoven’s music. On the program’s second half, music director Steven Errante leads the Wilmington Symphony in Felix Mendelssohn’s musical diary, the Symphony #3 (“Scottish”), an orchestral travelogue depicting the moors, mists and mountains encountered during Mendelssohn’s trip to Scotland.

“This is the first concert in the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra’s new season," says Norman Bemelmans, UNCW director of cultural arts, “and what an exciting way to begin. Two masterworks from the repertoire, plus a showcase opportunity for three of our talented music department faculty. Kudos to music director Steven Errante and colleagues. It promises to be a splendid evening of great music-making.”

Tickets are $20 first reserved, $18 second reserved and $4 for youth under 17. Tickets are free (as available) to UNCW students with valid ID. Please contact Kenan Box Office at 910/962-3500.
