WILMINGTON, N.C. – Saxophonist Brandon Croom is featured in a UNCW Department of Music Student Recital at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29 in Kenan Auditorium. As a junior music major, Croom will perform a range of selections reflective of his academic experience at UNCW. Faculty member Karen Rice will accompany him on piano.

The evening will feature Three Songs Without Words by Paul Ben-Haim. Written by the Jewish composer after fleeing Nazi Germany in 1933 and resettling in Palestine, this piece is representative of the Israeli classical movement, which occurred as a result of dozens of Jewish musicians migrating from the West throughout the early 1930s.

Also included in the recital is Quiet Time by Syracuse University instructor Ronald L. Caravan and Choral Varié by French composer Vincent D’Indy.

Student recitals are required as part of the music department’s educational curriculum and are an integral part of any performance-related major.

Admission for this event is free and open to the public.

For more information, please contact the UNCW Kenan Auditorium Box Office at 910. 962.3500 or the UNCW Department of Music at 910.962.7416.
