UNCW Alumni Association Presents Alumni and Citizen of the Year Awards

Wilmington, N.C. - The University of North Carolina Wilmington Alumni Association presented awards to two alumni and a legendary professor during a Homecoming celebration Jan. 27 in the Warwick Center.
John Marsh Tyson '74, a judge on the N.C. Court of Appeals, received the 2006 Alumnus of the Year Award. Kristen "Doc" Dunn '97, a Realtor and chair of the Cape Fear Alumni Chapter, was presented with the Young Alumna of the Year Award.
Professor emeritus J. Marshall Crews - one of the university's original faculty members who also served as registrar, dean of students, academic dean and director of admissions - received the Distinguished Citizen of the Year Award. He is actively involved with the Wilmington College Alumni Chapter and is the namesake for an undergraduate merit science scholarship and a distinguished faculty award.
The alumni association is accepting nominations for the 2007 awards. Nominations must be received by July 1, 2006. Please contact the Alumni Relations Office at 910.962.2682 for more information.
