WILMINGTON, N.C. - Linda Baddour, chief financial officer of PPD Inc., Louis H. Rogers III, regional director of Self Help Credit Union, and Bruce Shell, county manager of New Hanover County, have been named 2006 Outstanding Alumni by the University of North Carolina Wilmington Cameron School of Business.

Each year during its Business Week event, the school recognizes outstanding alumni for their personal achievement, service to the community and/or service to the Cameron School of Business.

"These three individuals represent the principles that the Cameron School of Business faculty works so hard to instill in our students, and they are fine examples of the quality of our graduates," said Dean Larry Clark. "Their professional success and the respect they have earned within the business community speaks for itself."

Baddour, who earned her B.S. degree in accountancy from the Cameron School in 1980 and her Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in 1996, has been with PPD since 1995 and became chief financial officer in May 2002. A certified public accountant, she served as chief accounting officer at Cooperative Bank from 1980 to 1995. PPD is a global provider of discovery and development services and products for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies with more than 8,000 professionals working in 62 facilities and 28 countries.

Rogers, originally from Raleigh, earned his B.A. in economics from UNC Chapel Hill and his M.B.A. from the Cameron School. He moved to Wilmington in 1994 to work at State Employees Credit Union. In 1998, he joined the Small Business and Technology Development Center at UNCW. He then became a commercial loan officer at Self Help Credit Union and was promoted to director in 2003. Rogers volunteers with Wilmington Downtown Inc., Partners for Economic Inclusion, UNCW HUB Advisory Council and Rotary Club. He also serves on the board of the Bellamy Mansion Museum.

Shell became county manager of New Hanover County in November 2005, after serving as the county's finance director since 1994. Prior to becoming finance director, he was internal auditor for the county's budget department. He received his B.S. in management from UNCW in 1977 and is a C.P.A. The county manager reports directly to a five-member board of commissioners, directs operations in all departments, prepares the county's annual budget and manages approximately 1,500 employees.

Awards were presented to the recipients during Business Week, the Cameron School's annual conference for students, which features presentations by more than 90 representatives from business, industry and government. The conference is designed to expose students to the world of work and provide them with access to a variety of professionals while engaging the regional business community with the Cameron School of Business.
