WILMINGTON, NC - As part of its Year of the Arts celebration, the University of North Carolina Wilmington is launching a new comprehensive arts Web site. The Office of Cultural Arts, working in partnership with the Campus Webmaster and Marketing and Communications, created the new Web site as in-depth resource for detailed information about the wide variety of arts activities created, produced and presented on campus.
The Web site, www.uncw.edu/arts., features the UNCW Cultural Arts Calendar and other programmatic information about the various arts venues, series and special events on campus as well as links to community arts calendars and organizations. It goes live Friday, Aug. 11.
"This is truly a significant year in the cultural life of the university," said Norman Bemelmans, director of cultural arts. "In addition to generating and presenting a richly diverse range of arts programming this year, UNCW celebrates the grand opening of the new Cultural Arts Building with its state-of-the-art music, theater and art gallery venues, plus a new 350-seat cinema center, and the re-opening of a newly renovated Kenan Auditorium. With this veritable explosion of arts activities occurring on campus, it is important to have an easily identifiable and accessible information source on our Web site dedicated to the arts. There are so many fantastic cultural opportunities happening here, we want people to know about them - and to experience them."
To bring more visibility to the new Web site and to cultural arts programming on campus, a direct "Arts" link will appear on the main navigation bar of the university's homepage, alongside "Academics" and "Athletics".
