Civil Rights Leader Julian Bond to Speak at UNCW MLK Jr. Celebration

Wilmington, N.C. - Civil rights leader Julian Bond will be the keynote speaker for the upcoming Martin Luther King Jr. celebration at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. He will speak at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 16, in Kenan Auditorium.
As an activist who has faced imprisonment for his convictions, as a veteran of more than 20 years of service in the Georgia General Assembly, and as a writer, teacher and lecturer, Bond has been on the cutting edge of social change since he was a college student leading sit-in demonstrations in Atlanta in 1960.
The event is co-sponsored by numerous community organizations, individuals and UNCW. The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required. Tickets are available through the Kenan Box Office at 910.962.3500 or 800.732.3643.
