UNCW Alumni Association Bids Fond Farewell to Caroline Norelius, Claire Stanley to Serve as Interim Director

Wilmington, N.C. - The University of North Carolina Wilmington Alumni Association bids a fond farewell to Alumni Director Caroline Norelius, who joined the university in January 2005. Claire Stanley, external and donor relations director in the Division for University Advancement, will serve as the interim alumni director while a national search is conducted.
"Caroline brought great energy and enthusiasm to our alumni programs," said Mary M. Gornto, vice chancellor for university advancement. Her resignation is effective June 30, 2007.
During her tenure at the university, Norelius worked closely with the association's Board of Directors to craft a strategic plan, to endow many of the 15 scholarships the association sponsors, and to create new opportunities for alumni to participate in campus events, including Fall Alumni Weekend.
Stanley has been with the university since July 2003, and her responsibilities include supervising the university's donor stewardship programs. She holds a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
"Claire has established many connections with UNCW alumni through her work in donor relations and stewardship. Her organizational skills will help the alumni program continue to move forward," Gornto said.
Stanley looks forward to working more closely with the alumni association. "UNCW has thousands of dedicated, loyal alumni, and I welcome the opportunity to help the association involve even more of them in the life of the university," she said.
