The University of North Carolina Wilmington is looking for an unsung hero to receive angel wings Dec. 19, 2008.

As part of the annual holiday screening of Frank Capra's It's a Wonderful Life, 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 19, at Kenan Auditorium, UNC Wilmington will present the third annual Clarence Award, named for the film's angel-in-training, Clarence, who shows how one person's life touches so many others.

In the spirit of the film, the purpose of the Clarence Award is to recognize someone in the greater Wilmington community who, without fanfare or publicity, gives unselfishly to others to make a real difference in the lives of those less fortunate. The honoree must be present to receive the award and must agree to be photographed and publicly recognized via news media. The award consists of an appropriate memento, but no cash prize.

Frankie Roberts, co-founder and executive director of Leading Into New Communities, Inc. (LINC), was the 2007 Clarence Award recipient.

A nomination form is available online at http://www.uncw.edu/news/pdfs/clarence_2008.pdf
