The C-SPAN Civics Bus will be at University of North Carolina Wilmington 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009, in parking lot E adjacent to the Fisher Student Center.

C-SPAN staff will share information with the UNC Wilmington campus about the importance of media literacy, understanding public affairs and C-SPAN's programming. The bus crew will also debut the documentary "The Supreme Court: Home to America's Highest Court" and guide tours of the bus, which is a fully-functional TV programming vehicle.

In 1993, C-SPAN launched the bus program as a way to bring the world of public affairs into communities nationwide and has since visited all 50 states. More information: www.c-span.org/schoolbus. The UNCW visit is sponsored by Time Warner Cable, The Seahawk and TealTV, both components of UNCW Student Media.

"The Supreme Court: Home to America's Highest Court" completes C-SPAN's original feature documentaries on the symbolic homes of the three branches of American government and coincides with the network's "Supreme Court Week," which begins Oct. 4. C-SPAN, celebrating 30 years as America's political network of record, was created in 1979 and is now aired in more than 95 million households.

Media are invited to capture visual opportunities and to interview C-SPAN crew members and participants during bus tour hours.
