UNCW Presents will host the official opening of the Ann Flack Boseman Gallery, the University's premiere visual arts gallery space. An opening reception for the gallery and all student juried show will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 27. The Boseman Gallery is located on the second floor of the newly renovated University Union, overlooking Campus Commons.
Deborah Onate, esteemed artist and educator and UNCW alumna, will jury the 100 submitted student works in drawing, painting, photography, mixed media, sculpture and metal work. Awards will be presented at 6:30 p.m. The Best of Show piece will be purchased and absorbed into the University Union Permanent Art Collection. Both the exhibit and reception are free and open to the public. The exhibit will run through April 9. Much of the student work will be available for public purchase.
The new Boseman Gallery will serve as a dedicated exhibition space and laboratory, allowing students to serve as curators and mount exhibits. The venue will also host a variety of regional and national artists, who will provide lectures and demonstrations to students and the community. Specialty features of the space include maple floors, security system, gallery lighting, a dedicated sound system, network capabilities for digital and electronic installations, prep and storage room, as well as a moveable wall system and full range of pedestals, constructed by local artisan Wendell Patterson.
The gallery was named by university benefactors Mark Griffis and Dave Robertson in honor of their close friend Ann Flack Boseman, artist and mother of Senator Julia Boseman, a UNCW alumna. The gallery will also serve as the exhibit venue for the annual recipient of the Ann Flack Boseman Art Scholarship, a merit-based honor selected by the faculty of the UNCW Department of Art and Art History.

In addition to the Boseman gallery, the UNCW Presents' gallery program will continue to exhibit in the Warwick Center Lobby Gallery and the Seahawk Perch Lounge and Sharky's Game Room, both located in the Fisher Student Center.
