UNCW Presents' Ann Flack Boseman Gallery hosts its namesake - an exhibit featuring the pieces made over Ann Boseman's lifetime as an artist. Her works are on display until Friday, Aug. 29. An artist reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 21 in the gallery, located on the second floor of the Fisher University Union. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.

Boseman, an alumna of UNC Greensboro, graduated in 1951 with a degree in primary education. Courses she took in teaching the visual arts to students sparked her own creativity, prompting her to buy a $1 box of pastels in the early to experiment on her own. She began her formal training in the visual arts, which included most of the courses offered at UNC Wilmington at the time - portrait painting, pastels, art history courses and life drawing. Her passion for wood as a medium stems from her UNC Greensboro botany professor's contagious fascination with the beauty and variations that exist in wood.
